There is exactly one year to go until the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
gets underway in England and Wales!
To celebrate the start of an action-packed 365-day countdown, a whole host of cricketers, celebrities and members of the public headed to London’s iconic Brick Lane to play some street cricket. In keeping with the one-day game, there was some vintage stroke-play on show, but to be fair to the bowlers, the pitch was a road!
If you’d rather watch some genuine World Cup cricket, you’ll be glad to know that there’s still time to enter the Cricket Family Ballot. Click here to register and apply for tickets, but don’t delay – the ballot closes at 8.00pm (BST) on Friday 1 June.
What’s more, they also unveiled their Cricket World Cup declaration which was launched by London poet Caleb Femi, watch it below.

in the local shops and in every household
the talk is of the Cricket World Cup
and what better place for it to be next year
than the home of cricket.
On our very doorstep, we invite the World
to our cobbled streets full of colour and expectation
who ever you are, how ever you are, where ever you are
come in and share the passion supporting your team.
Fly your flag with pride
after all it’s Britain; everyone’s welcome.
We are one extended family
sharing the DNA of a bat and ball.
So let’s come together and celebrate
the greatest cricket moments in the world.
Let’s watch history being made before our very eyes.
Trust me, you’ll want to be there in the midst of it all
and we will save a seat for you
you just have to tell us,
Are you in?
