When do England’s Women next play

Australia won the first two points of their Ashes campaign against the England women in a tight battle that eventually finished with a two-wicket loss for the visitors. This was the opening ODI in Brisbane and Lauren Winfield (48) was England’s top scorer as they made 228-8. Despite the loss, I suspect confidence will still be good in the camp with it only be a defeat by a few runs. The England team can certainly take plenty of positives going into the next ODI match in Coffs Harbour.

Australia extended their lead from two points to four with a much easier win over England this time in the second Ashes ODI match after they were put into bat first. Aussie captain Rachael Haynes was dropped on 60 runs and then went on to get a career best of 89 off just 56 balls before the home team went on to add another 94 off the last 10 overs as they finished four short of 300 runs. Due to rain though, England were given a target of 285 off 46 overs to win but they never came close and were all out for just 209. The only positive was Katherine Brunt getting her first fifty.

Half centuries from captain Heather Knight as well as Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor help England to finally pick up a win and two vital points in the third ODI of their Ashes tour. The won by 20 runs (DLS) in the end which keeps alive their hopes of regaining the Ashes urn still. They’ll now have a three day warm up game ahead of the one and only Test match that the two teams play.
